RAP GROUP VERY ANGRY AT VH1 FOR STEALING THEIR NAME

Los Angeles, CA -- August 20, 2007 -- The Man Band, a Los Angeles based rap group is gearing up to take on VH1 over the rights to their name. "We copyrighted 'The Man Band' precisely for this reason," says Man o' War. "I mean with this show coming out we can't play a venue in LA without people expecting those assclowns in Sureshot to be playing... They should be expecting THESE assclowns." Man o' War spreads his arms indicating his band, The Man Band.

The Vh1 series in question, titled "Mission: Man Band", takes four former boy band members (Chris Kirkpatrick of N*SYNC, Jeff Timmons of 98 Degrees, Rich Cronin of LFO, and Bryan Abrams of Color Me Badd) and puts them together to create a 'Man Band'. The real Man Band is composed of lyricists Man Lee and Man o' War, hype man Manchester, and DJ Manoptimis. They were formed in Samannah, GA on a "drunken dare" and have been based in Los Mangeles since 2004. They're currently garnering attention for their spoof of the Vh1 series and a song written about a Mission: Man Band cast member's girlfriend. The Man Band has even been a featured news item on Vh1's own "Best Week Ever" website ( http://www.bestweekever.tv/2007/08/16/has-vh1-pissed-off-the-wrong-man-band/ ).

"A fortnight (2 weeks) before 'Mission: Man Band' came out, we started seeing all these promos on youtube and places like this, so we decided to remake the promo," says Man Lee while sipping from a warm mug of PBR by the fireplace. "I don't know what else to do... What VH1 has done is unthinkable and heinous - they know exactly what they're doing and what they have done. But they just won't stop. I mean what's the point of getting things copyrighted if..." His voice fades as he stares off into the middle distance.

"I think what Man Lee's trying to say is, 'What's the point of getting things trademarked if anybody can use it?' We know we're not as famous or rich or good-looking as these guys on Vh1," interjects Manchester, "and maybe we never will be, but with their blatant disregard for our intellectual property, they have made it virtually impossible for us to make it on our own terms."

The Man Band has sent multiple cease and desist letters to Vh1 weeks prior to "Mission: Man Band's" debut. They received only one reply from their efforts. The VP and Senior Counsel of MTV Networks wrote, "We are currently investigating the issues raised in your letter and will respond to you shortly. Thank You." That was five weeks ago and Vh1 is now three episodes into the "Mission: Man Band" series.

The Man Band has since shifted the attention of their digital comedy shorts to the current events taking place. And through their humorous spoof of the "Mission: Man Band" promo and steadfast self-promotion, The Man Band made a surprising new fan. "You ever hear of LFO? They did that 'girls who wear Abercrombie and Fitch' song. Well, that guy's girlfriend loves us. She's cool," explains Man o' War. "We made a song about her. It's on our myspace. Myspace.com/manband."

"We're trying to have fun with it, but right now it all feels pretty overwhelming. Each week that Vh1 continues to put out 'Mission: Man Band' is another week of irreparable damages," says Man Lee. "We can only do so much. They're systematically erasing everything we've worked for and are forever linking our name to these forlorn, depressing, and defeated men... Except for Rich Cronin. He sent us a myspace message and he is being very cool about the situation."

The message in its entirety from Rich Cronin of VH1's "Mission: Man Band," "you guys rule, i want you t know you are the MAN BAND!! we dont like to be the man band and its wrong that vh1 did that. i stand behind you 100% Rich."

"We need help. Legal and spiritual help," says DJ Manoptimis. Currently The Man Band are pursuing their legal options while preparing to release their 2nd album entitled "Pabstronauts" on September 13. They are planning a cd release party at the world famous Silverlake Lounge on September 26 and are releasing more comedy shorts on youtube and other internet video sharing sites.
